Ordinarily I buy the more expensive, big name tire brands. I was buying Mastercraft for my kids' cars. I got a set of Mastercraft HSX for my F150. An excellent tire in all regards. Equal to the Bridgestone and Goodyear tires I have run on my half ton trucks over the last 20 years. They ride and handle like sports car tires and are quite smoother and quiet. When the OEM Goodyear's fade away on my 2015 F150...I'll mount another set of Mastercraft Courser HSX on it.
I replaced the OEM General Grabber HTS ECO tires at 36,000. Dealer said I probably could have gone another 10,000. The Courser HSX made no noticeable difference in road noise over the OEM. I have rotated every 5,000 with a mix of front to back and X rotate. I had them all re balanced once. They now have 44,000 on them and have perfect even wear and plenty of tread life left. The Generals were a little sketchy in rain on painted lines. It does not bother the Mastercraft. I have driven many long highway trips through some severe downpours and have never felt in danger of hydroplaning. I have driven in light snow and ice without any slip. Handling is as expected for my 5,000 pound SUV. I would consider buying again.
I've had these tires on my Honda pilot for about 50K miles. Rotated faithfully every 7.5K with every oil change. Tread wear has been good...much better than the stock Mich's that came with the pilot. I like everything about these tires down to the rugged look of them.....except for one thing. They are the loudest set of tires I've ever had. As soon as I hit +50 mph, the tires begin to roar. I do notice a difference about 1K after I rotate them, but it never fully goes away....and the intensity of the roar is back within 3K after rotation. This is my wife's car and she has been telling me she can't stand the noise since 5K into the tires. If I knew that I could get a pair of these tires with reduced noise level, I'd buy them again in a second. But considering the noise level comes with very unhappy wife....I'll look at other options for now.
Very noisy tire. Sounds like you have snow tires on the vehicle. Wouldn't classify these as a Touring Tire. Handling and traction performance is great. Might make a good light truck tire. I'm shopping for replacements even though there is still plenty of tread remaining.
I have these mounted on my Z71 4X4, I wanted a good highway tire and something that could handle some off road and snow. I've pulled a midsized SUV out of sloppy clay mud and up a 10-15% grade, 200 yard muddy hill using these tires. I wouldn't recommend for serious off-roading but if you want a nice highway ride with an option to get out of a little mess, then these are the ones! Tread wear and UV resistance has been great too. Mastercraft has earned a loyal customer in me!
Great ride and very quiet. Not had them on long enough to have them in snow. I like them so well I'm getting ready to buy a set of Mastercraft for my Dodge truck, best lower priced tire you can buy and are equal to the more expensive brand names.
These tires do better than stock Goodyear. This is the second winter with these tires.
Tires are one week old. As an avid highway driver I do not recommend these tires. Grip is good and quiet but tire is not stable for any aggressive maneuvering. If I do 60 mph and over, the tire tends to roll and feel boaty if aggressive lane change. Past 60mph, I feel if I have to suddenly maneuver the lack of responsiveness and the sudden roll of the tire could cause the vehicle to lose control and roll the vehicle. You have better brake in a straight line with these tires. At soonest I will be going back to my old Goodyear A/T.
Best tires I have ever owned.
nice
I only have 1,000 miles on these tires, but being a car guy, I know good tires and these are good. We had a ton of deep snow this month, and these tires are great. pretty quiet and smooth on the highway, would buy again for sure.
My sister and I use the Jeep for vacations. Salesman at the store once again made a good choice for me!
Good three-season tire for New England. With four almost new Mastercraft Courser HSX Touring tires on an all-wheel drive Explorer, I had a hard time getting back up a very slightly sloped driveway AFTER all the snow had been cleared out! Last tire I had that performed as poorly in shallow snow was a Goodyear Aquatread from 20 years ago. Suggest an all-terrain tire instead of this all-season tire if you want to go in New England's snow. Kind of defeats the reason we buy all-wheel drive vehicles. First time I've been disappointed by a Cooper tire.
Good overall Jeep road tire, would buy again. Decent on mild 4x4 off road, not sure about more difficult off-road, though.
Great tire for the price. Lasted 4 years and 78,000 miles.
Smooth and responsive. Much less road noise than OEM. At 23,500 miles and there is little wear.
Good tire for the money. Quiet ride. Better tire than OEM. All round nice tire.
